Bad news must always lead to good things
Well, my mothers biopsy results came back yesterday, and it wasn't good. She still has breast cancer and is talking to her surgeon and plastic surgeon today. I was planning on going home for 2 days in order to come back to Athens for work. That is not going to happen. My mom has always been there for me through rough times and right now she really needs me, so I am going to go home for the whole break. Surprisingly, I feel okay sharing this with all of you. I think it is because I have opened up so much in class it led me to be okay with being open about this situation. Although I was a complete mess yesterday, I am doing a little bit better. Getting ready to hit the road and can't wait to get home. Now I just need to get through this 7 hour drive. Keep her in your prayers and I will keep you updated.....

Awaiting
So, Friday my mom went to the doctor for her 2nd biopsy. Everything looked good so we should be getting good news. We will find out on Tuesday morning. I am so proud of her for going through this process with such bravery. She really is my hero. Although I cant relate to what she has went through with the process and recovery, I know it wasn't easy. She is such a strong woman and I look up to her for that. She stills manages 2 jobs, 3 kids, and home life. I want to be like her when I eventually have a family. This whole process has made me appreciate the value of a family and I couldn't have asked for a better one. Everyone always supports each other no matter what. And I know, that is what she needed.... our support. We are just awaiting until we receive the news, which will hopefully be good.

Shamokin, PA
Every year since I have been a little kid my family would always go on a weekend trip during August to Shamokin. There is an amusement park called Knoebels which has been around since my dad was going through his childhood. We had started out going to a bed and breakfast consistently year after year. About 5 years ago my Aunt Cindy, my dads sister got a mountain house there which made everything different. Every year rather then just my family going, we would pack in my family, and my dads four sister as well as their families.
The past 2 years I haven't been able to make it due to living at school for second summer session. My family went just this past weekend and unfortunately, I couldn't make it. I was upset because every year is always so much fun with everyone there together making memories and reuniting.
It made me think over the weekend how this place is a family tradition. My aunts and uncles have grown up there through the summers and it is always cool to experience the same thing they went through. I would hope when I have a family that I will be able to bring them there as well!

Baseball season
Meanwhile, I am sitting there in the Pirates stadium, wearing my Phillies shirt. Big mistake. Huge one. I had to take so much from people it was crazy! Even though they lost the game it was a good time. And Saturday we also had a concert to attend.
You can say this weekend was very.... long and event filled. Now it is back to reality, unfortunately

Au courant
Well, I am hoping that I am not the only one out there new to the blogging world. I must say social networking sites are always a pain to adapt to, but I can see myself getting used to this. While I was studying abroad in Mexico for three months last winter, I found that A LOT of people like to blog. I had a solid 10 friends in my group of 40 who blogged (or tried to) once a week. It is more sophisticated than other social networking sites such as Twitter and Facebook to keep in touch while over seas. And not to mention, there was A LOT to talk about. That was when I discovered blogging. I really had hoped to start one myself, but couldn't find the time because I was so busy exploring the culture, keeping up with homework, and reading my friends blogs about what we had in store for us...
Living above Broney's, I found it could be loud at times, but I also found the most awesome writing spot ever. We have huge semi-circle windows built into the wall with a bench basically built in. Its comfy, and I have the best view ever which will hopefully inspire me to share some pretty interesting stuff.
